We are honoring MaryJo's legacy by continuing her work for children's education in Afghanistan.

Mary Jo was many things to those who knew her:

· A committed, creative and joyful colleague;

· A caring, generous and always funny friend;

· A passionate, determined and articulate champion for girls' and women’s education in Afghanistan;

· A beloved daughter and sister who was living her dream.

Before she passed, MaryJo was developing and raising funds to create permanent, multi-grade, one-room community based schools in Afghanistan villages, to enable Afghan children, especially girls, to get access to quality primary school education. The funds raised from this memorial page will help fund the future of that dream.

MaryJo's father used to tease her during calls to Afghanistan, asking her, “When will I get my daughter back?”, and she would reply, “When all the girls in Afghanistan have the opportunity for education”.

We hope we can realize MaryJo's vision for education in Afghanistan and invite you to join us on this journey. Thank you!
