The humanitarian crisis in South Sudan is growing rapidly and your help is urgently needed. On Dec. 15, 2013, violence erupted in South Sudan’s capital, Juba, pitting different factions of the government against each other. Fighting quickly spread to other parts of the country, forcing families from their homes and preventing farmers from planting.
Thousands of people have been killed and 1.5 million have had to flee. Private food supplies are dwindling, raising concerns that some may starve. Because heavy rains have washed out roads, large areas of the country are inaccessible. The United Nations has warned of widespread famine.
CRS has a long history in South Sudan and is working with Church partners to distribute tarps and mosquito nets for shelter, and ensure access to clean water and adequate sanitation to prevent the spread of disease. But the number of people that need help is rapidly escalating. Your donation will ensure we can reach as many people as possible.
Please help the families of South Sudan.
